still in the hospital

It has now been 20 days.
I just want to go home.
I’m so done.
I have my littlest baby with me around the clock so that helps my sanity.
Not having my big boys with me is about to make me crazy.
I’m so grateful for my family and friends that have done so much; I can never repay them.
I am in awe at the friendship I made because of this.
Let’s hope I can go home soon and get this all behind me.
I promise to give a detailed post about my stay. You are all dying to read eevery little detail so sit tight. It’s coming soon.

Let the formula bottles, begin

I also found out from my day nurse that my doctor had to fuss/raise his voice at the social worker. She was insisitent that I had no business breastfedding my baby and blah blah blah , all those drugs she’s on … etc, etc, etc. (Which I never heard about directly)

Well he overheard her and according to my nurse he told her what I did was non of her concern, I was under HIS care, if he felt it was safe  and I was comfortable with the side effects that it was NO ONE else’s business.

This all came to be one afternoon when lunch came just as I needed to head down for a CT. The transport guys gave me about 5 minutes to scarf my food but I didn’t finish feeding the baby. He was fine, I would only be gone 30 minutes. Maybe loner. He  was crying and wanted me. He wasn’t REALLY hungry. HE just wanted to snuggle more. SO I guess social services some how got wind that he was crying and they assumed that I was starving him by going off for tests and that HE Must take the formula. They also assumed it was “draining me”.

When I got back, in comes the social worker, she said please don’t be mad but we brought this (formula). I told her I didn’t have a problem with him taking it but he was not going to take it. We’ve tried countless times.

Well she thought maybe he’d take it because it was forumalted for fussy, sensitive babies. My baby is not fussy and does not have a sensitive stomach. The opposite in fact. I eat just about whatever I want to and he never complains.

I assume she’s not very “experience” smart and only book smart because she was clearly lost as to why he didn’t want a bottle and why we were sure a different kind would not work. I can only assume she has no children of her own.

The thing is if it’s NOT my nipple he won’t even let it in his mouth. If we use a sippy cup it pours tight out of his mouth with a “what did you do to me” look on his face.

Oh, well. She meant well by bringing it. SHe crossed the line if the doctor felt the need to raise his voice to her.

Pflugerville Fires and more

Click here if you would like to add your WILD FIRE RELATED post.

Sunday started out just like any other Sunday, but I started to see status updates from local friend’s about fires in Pflugerville. That was really scary; especially when one of the fires was only 1.6 miles from my house. The wind was blowing the fire away, so we were never at risk, but if it had been a little closer? We would have been in danger.

We took the boys to watch local firefighters work at putting the fire out. It was really awesome to see Starflight working so hard to do what they could.

Photo was take by my friend Kelly Astley. Thank you for letting me use it!

The day progressed and more and more fires started. The one by us became minor.

I checked facebook first thing this morning and learned that the Bastrop fire had burned more than 17,000 acres and we had friends in Steiner RAnch and BAstrop that were evacuated. I also learned that Will’s kindergarten teacher came way to close to losing her home; firefighters actually kicked her door down to get her dogs out because they thought the house was a goner. The winds shifted and the fire stopped just a few doors away.

I immediatly knew I wanted to do SOMETHING. Big or small. I wasn’t the only one that wanted to help. Our community, our city, is really pulling together.

I found this facebook page and immediatly gathered a few things, we dropped that off earlier today. She is taking just about everything. NO MONEY PLEASE.

There are plenty of other ways to help out, if you can.

If you are a blogger, local or not, consider blogging about it; awareness is so important. If you want to keep up with updates follow these twitter hashtags:

The news is using #txfire

Local bloggers will be linking all posts together and using #txblogfirerelief .

The fires continue to burn. Let’s hope no new fires start today.

struggle within

We all struggle.

Some of us everyday.

A few of us, sometimes.

There are people like me that have something that gives our struggle away, but remember looks can be deceiving. My chair isn’t really a struggle for me, but it might be for the 8 year old boy I saw at the store last week.

There are people like your neighbor that seem perfectly happy but you eventually learn she suffers from CFS or he has sleep apnea and barely functions at work.

No matter how big or small, we all struggle.

I want to invite my readers to share with me and everyone else what they are struggling with.

Did your child get the “wrong” teacher? Did your wife spend too much on clothes and now the budget is blown? Did you lose a loved one or learn a long forgotten classmate has cancer?

Every Friday night i will post and leave a place for you to share if you so choose.

Pinkle Toes Photography

I met Michele about 2 years ago because our kids take Tae Kwon Do together. It was a few weeks later that I found out she was a photographer. I thought, ok, a lot of people are photographers, but I wanted to check out her work.

BAD IDEA. I was blown away with just the first picture on her blog. I’ve been hooked ever since. I immediatly became her facebook “fan” in addition to her friend. :)

Fast forward to my pregnancy with Lucas. My months and months of DROOLING were going to pay off. She was looking for maternity models for a workshop. She wouldn’t be taking many of the pictures but she’d be helping other amazing photographers learn some of her secrets. I applied and she wanted me. YAY

Fast forward again. The shoot went beautifully and then Nathan came into our lives 3 weeks early. I was tweeting and posting on facebook, while we were in the hospital. Michele contacted me and asked if I would be up for a newborn shoot. She was having another workshop and needed a model. I jumped on it. How could I say no?

Well, here they are. Make sure you check out the Pinkle Toes Photography Blog for samples of her work and if you need a new photographer for your family portraits, consider hiring her.

My next goal? I have to talk my darling husband into family pictures with her! Wish me the best in that one. Maybe it can be my everything present every year?! hmmm…. :) .

Nursery pictures

Quick shots with phone. 95% done.

All about Gender.

I have two boys. I’m pregnant again. (I guess everyone knew that, right?)

Everyone automatically assumes we want a girl. I don’t think we’ve encountered but a tiny handful of people that didn’t ask if we were hoping for a girl. It’s actually been quite humorous.

The answer to that question is YES and NO. We want a baby. We want a healthy baby. If we have a girl that would be FANTASTIC. If we have a boy that will be just as wonderful.

There are pros to both and I can’t think any genuine negatives. Here is the run down:

    • If we have another boy I don’t have to buy that many clothes. (I will admit I am very bored with most of them.)
    • I remain the only female and how can being the Queen AND princess of the house EVER be bad? If you have a boy you know just what I mean. There is nothing quite like having a Mommy’s boy. I currently have two and love every minute of it. Yes, even the minutes where I completely go bananas because they won’t listen.
    • NO WEDDING OR PROM DRESSES to buy !!!!!!!
    • They will be able to share a bathroom FOREVER. No space issues!! (ETA: or having her yell at them because she needs to do her makeup or they left the lid up and they won’t yell at her that they JUST need to pee and she’s been getting ready for an hour now)
  • Now a couple of “down sides” that are really kind of absurd

    • Lucas becomes the middle boy and no longer the baby boy
    • We run into who will share and who will not (right now Will and Lucas Share a room)
    • I already have clothes so have no VALID excuse to by much more
    • um……………………..nothing?

    UP sides to a girl

    • Charlie gets to have a Daddy’s girl and Will said he REALLY wants a sister
    • I get to carry on that mommy/daughter bond I have with my MOM.
    • I get to SHOP. A LOT. WOOOOOOOOOOT!
    • Lucas gets to keep baby boy status!

    “Downside” to a girl

    • She’s going to hog the bathroom and someone will have to use ours
    • I’ll have to learn to help Charlie clean the guns when she starts dating
    • I’m going to get in BIG BIG trouble shopping for her.

So there you have it. The “pros” and “cons” (if you can call them that … they are kind of silly).

    Project 52: week 2

We went out to Kona Grill last night for my 30th. It’s probably one of our “new” favorites. We’ve only been there twice but it is sooooo yummy.

Anyways, I thought a family picture was fitting for the week since our first picture of the project was just the fetus. I had second thoughts when I saw the picture because I look like the living dead. That’s okay though.

Please excuse the poor editing. It was a VERY dark restaurant.

    project 52

I have tried and failed at several project 365s.

This year I am going to try something on a smaller scale.

Several people do a Project 52, so I decided I would try THAT.

    Sound good?

    Awesome.

I have NOT taken my first picture, YET!

Will goes back to school on Tuesday and I have an doc appointment that day.

My first will probably revolve around one of those 2.

If you have one you would like to share please let me know.
