Jenni has an interesting prompt for us today.
“Things I’ve learned school won’t teach you.”
I could go any number of directions with this but I’m going to keep it simple. It’s been a long, challenging day and I would rather NOT post, but I really want to be a good girl and keep up with challenge. I have a habit of giving up and I refuse to do it with this.
- You won’t learn what it’s like to be a parent. In fact you won’t even learn how to be a parent from being a parent. It changes daily.
- You won’t learn what it’s like to be committed or married. Again, this changes all the time, you have to work all the time and fight (figuratively) to keep your relationship healthy.
- The best friends you have today will probably not be the best friends you have in 15 or 20 years. Your lives will take different paths or you will end up living in different parts of the country. You may send each other random texts but you won’t ever stay up until 3 am trying to figure out the words to “Baller” ever again. (Sarah, Tiffany, & Amanda, oh how I miss you…..)
- No one will ever tell you that wine makes even the worst day tolerable. If you run yourself a bubble bath to go with it, even better.
- You will never learn how much you will MISS being 5 and starting your first day of Kindergarten and how you will bawl your eyes out each time your children are old enough to do it too.
Okay , so those weren’t simple and I surely didn’t even REMOTELY cover everything, but that glass of wine?! It’s calling my name and tomorrow is my middle baby’s last day of Pre-K. He’s old enough for kinder and I’m not ready for this again.
