William is doing excellent with his reading and actually started taking AR tests at school on some of the books he has read. I thought they started doing this in 2nd grade, not K. It doesn’t really matter because he is so excited to read for us and only struggles through maybe 1-2 words per book. The rare occasion he just “gives up” and insists we tell him. We try to encourage him to sound it out, no matter how long it is. It’s quite amazing how it finally “clicked” and almost overnight he went from not wanting to try, AT ALL to finishing a small book on his own.
