Through the Years

I fondly remember my date marking my height on a door EVERY summer I went to visit him. He marked my siblings, even though most of them were grown and no longer growing, and he marked the grandkids.

I am pretty sure my step mom was able to salvage it after Hurricane Katrina hit. I need to call her and ask. If nothing else, I’d LOVE a picture of it.

We bought our house in 2008. Will was almost 4 and Lucas was only 6 months old.

I started the same tradition in our hall bathroom.

We will be marking Nathan for the first time soon. He’s finally runnnig all over the place so it should be doable now. It’s not easy to track height when the little ones aren’t standing steady.

Height through the years.

If we ever move I plan to take pictures of it and mark the heights/dates on paper and remark it wherever we go, and frame the pictures next the new space.

Do you mark your kids height? Do you do it directly on the wall or door (which I think is WAY more fun)? Or do you use a paper growth chart? Did anyone in your family keep track of you while growing up?

The time has come.

The time has come for me to break down and get the memory boxes organized.

We have so much stuff we are keeping for the kids and I need to start throwing some of it away.

I plan to take pictures of all art work and put it into printed books by year and only keep a few of the more “crafty/project” art.

Lucas just started school so his pile is growing faster so I really CAN NOT put this off any longer.

Wish me me the best . . .

Oooh and while I am working on THAT, who wants to come and clean out my garage!?

In other news, here is another digi scrap page:

This is by Shawna Clingerman – of course, but this time she is GUESTING at The Lily Pad for the month of October so hop over there if you need to buy the goods to make your own.

My house tour: Playroom

I’ve been promising a “house tour” for quite some time now and I figured why wait?! The house will never be “done”. OR perfect.

And if it is I doubt anyone reading TODAY will be reading then.

The pictures won’t be Pinkle Toes quality, in fact they won’t be “quality” at all. In fact I will be taking them with my iphone and  **gasp**  NOT editing them. I will NEVER, I repeat NEVER get this done if I don’t just hit publish.

So, without further adieu . . .

MY HOUSE TOUR: Playroom

Yes, the playroom does generally stay this neat, unless we have play dates, then all bets are off. I am, however, ANAL about making sure it gets back to this state rather quickly.

Beleive what you want. :)

I promise to show a lot of very “real” living.

Looking In from the formal living room

See my precious smiling boy?!

Wall to the left of the doors

I’m not totally done here. I plan to buy MORE of those dot bins and the clear bins with the green handle, but at $10/pop for the dots and $16/set for the clear…. I’m not doing it all at once. You can see clear bins with white lids in the middle?! Those are where we keep matchbox cars. It’s a slightly smaller container and easier to carry heavy cars. There are actually 4 more BEHIND the 2 you see for a total of 6.

keep going ....

make the circle

If you look SUPER closely you can see crap behind the kitchen. There are about 3 bags of stuff that need to be taken to goodwill or tossed in the attic for a garage sale and I possibly need to go through it one more time to make sure I didn’t hastily toss a toy I should REALLY be keeping. Hmmm…..

and here is THE BIG MESS. We need to hang a curtain where the closet doors were so we can hide the “office” when guests come over and actually finish our the desk area (and get rid of all the boxes on this nightstand). This is what charlie was working on in January when I went to the hospital.

Little more ...

.BAM. There IS a mess, after all

wall art starts the house tour.

Alrighty. I decided to start showing you a little bit of my house. Why wait until it’s “just right”. It’ll never get there. Will it?

So to start…..

How amazing is this?

Frugal Wall Art.

(she doesn’t know I am showing you this so I refuse to use her photos, but I have no problem with sending you to her blog!! While you are there check out the rest of her house.)

I would love to do it and I know EXACTLY where. I was thinking the cubby/partial hall that leads into our bedroom from the breakfast nook? Maybe I could hang an empty frame on each wall?

That would be awesome? Hubby said he’d think about it so I will let you know!!

Here is the space. It’s not large enough to put ANY furniture and it needs a light but I think it could be fun.

why do I have so many cups?

This is what the right hand side of my sink looks like on any given day. (and we will consider this a “keeping it real” photo when I do my home tour)

Yes, I have dishwasher. No, I don’t use it all the time. It’s one of “my things”. I HATE to unload it, so that’s Charlie’s job. If he doesn’t unload it I hand wash.

Really.

That’s not the point of this post though. How many cups do you see there?

Yes. 6 plus.

How many kids do you see here? (hint: Will is clearly giving you the answer, so you shouldn’t get this one wrong.)

Do the math? It doesn’t add up. At all. There should only be 2 cups. Right? Tell me I’m right.
