Annie and Isabel gown

I keep putting off the BIG post I need to write. The one that give a nice big play by play of my hospital stay and explains JUST what happened. I’ll get to it. Someday. Soon. I promise.

I think we knew surgery was going to happen within the first week I was in the hospital. I knew within a day I wanted an Annie and Isabel gown and tweeted as much.

I couldn’t take my eyes off the cute Zebra print one. It had hot pink trim. You all know how I love my pink.

It didn’t take long before the amazing sisters told me to check my email. I did. They wanted to gift a gown to me! How amazing is that? They were gifting it to me as part of their Feel Better Campaign.

I can’t tell you enough how much I have grown to adore the 2 sisters behind the company. They have their own amazing stories and struggles that will touch your heart.  They are also ALL BOY moms. How can I not love them?!

My gown arrived within just a couple of days and the compliments started pouring in. I wanted to make sure it stayed clean so I only wore it during the day when I would be up and about or when I knew I would have visitors. I probably should have ordered a second gown but I didn’t know how long I was going to be stuck there. You know how that goes, right?!

Here are a couple of pictures of me wearing The Susan. Make sure you keep these amazing women in mind if you or anyone you know has a hospital stay in the future.

This post contains my opinions and was purely out of the kindness of my heart. I wanted to repay Selena and Anna for their kindness by sharing with my readers and friends. I did get a free gown but this post was not required.

I came across your page on Facebook and so glad that I did. I’ve been searching hi and low for any resources of mothers using wheelchairs. I am a SCI 6/7 19 years post and pregnant for the first time–with a boy–yeaaa. My hubby also is a SCI 6/7 21 years post. The information I have come across is outdated and fairly useless, which is why I love your site and your postings…current and real life and I can not thank you enough for having this page and sharing your world with us. Being a mommy in a chair, to be honest, scares me…I keep thinking that for the safety of my son, I will have to remain at home for the next 5 years–lol! I know that isn’t true, but that is how I feel at times :)

Hey! I am glad you found me too. I hope my experiences can help you. Our injuries are very different but they should at least get you in the right direction and if nothing else encourage you :). Congrats and good luck. Feel free to contact me any time. I’m excited for you!

  2. Hi Serena, I too am a wheelchair mommy. I have a T11-T-12 SCI and 21years post injury. I have 3 beautiful girls 11 years old, 9 years old and 6. Please feel free to contact me for advice as well. I am on facebook or you can email me at Congratulations.

Priscilla, I hope that you will get feeling better soon. I admire you and how you share story. Thank you for being an inspiration. Cherrie

  5. Wow, that hospital gown is the best! I’ll have to look into that for my upcoming surgery (which I *pray* is the last one). The experimental treatment they’re considering for me will mean another week or two inpatient as well, and I hate not having my own jammies, because, let’s face it, hospital gowns certainly don’t make us look the best.. We’re already sick & it just makes us look worse!! And pink too — my favorite color as well. 😉

I love the picture of you with the three boys. That’s adorable!!

Here’s hoping that you’re feeling lots better now & that the surgery was a success. Sending prayers your way. :-)
