Bloggy Boot Camp Review. Part One.

(there are zero links to other bloggers or pictures in this post … I’ll get to that tomorrow)

Kerri Jackson if you are going to read this … don’t be too harsh. I only added a few things I forgot but haven’t “cleaned it up”. *wink*

tIn all honesty, the best thing about Bloggy boot camp was meeting SO MANY fantastic women. Not bloggers. Other women. Moms, sisters, wives, daughters. Women. That’s what it all boils down to. Family and Friends.

There was a TON of fantastic talk about scheduling, SEO optimization, privacy, photography, working with brands, deciding what YOUR brand is and pure luck. It wasn’t all new for me but it refreshed my memory and has caused me to sit back and think. Again.

I mentioned all this in my ABOUT ME page but here it is. Again. I started a website back in 1999/2000. That was long before I knew what “blogging” was. I wanted a place to put down my thoughts and meet other people. If that happened. It was cool to see my site counter grow. (even thought I think half of it was ME) I had no idea who was visiting me but people knew me. That website has since been lost in cyberspace. I’ve tried searching for the archives and have failed.

Then I got married and my husband had a personal domain. I took that over withe wedding pictures and our wedding story. (crap. I need to find that and share it here. . .. Ooooops)

Along came baby. All along I documented my pregnancy in a pregnancy forum journal but wanted something I could update easily and that wasn’t private, only visible to forum subscribers…

I found babyjellybeans but that was really pricey. I wanted THAT, but on our server. A friend told me about LiveJournal and someone there told me about blogspot and then I found wordpress.

I’ve been blogging on wordpress for several years now.

It was about 2-3 years ago that I discovered so many other people do this. Who would have known. I was busy taking care of my son and keeping an online journal for him that I didn’t know that many others did it too. I guess part of the problem was I never got but one or two random comments from people that I already knew.

My comment numbers and views are still pretty low. That’s ok. I follow who I want when I can and I assume others do the same.

I realized that I MIGHT want to work with a company someday if the right one comes along. I would LOVE to speak to other bloggers, some day, about why I blog, but I’m not going to make it my priority. I wouldn’t complain if I became as BIG as some of the BIG SHOTS, but that’s not what drives me to blog. It’s NOT the numbers.

My kids do. I don’t really want that to change because this is FOR THEM. It’s for my grandkids. It’s for me.

That’s it.

I don’t mind sharing it but the bottom line is that I do it for me.

Boot Camp – Take 2

I picked my outfit for bloggy boot camp. Most of the cuteness came from Maurices. I love that store and Mimi and the girls that work there. They are AWESOME!!

Anyways….this is what you will see me in on Saturday!

The boots i have are not actually Prada, but they look just like the prada ones on the styleboard :D

I’ll be the one in the wheelchiar.

The girls at SITS are touring the country and hosting mini blogging conferences, better know to bloggers, as BLOGGY BOOT CAMP.

The Austin event is this Saturday (22) – ALL DAY.

Tickets are sold out, so don’t even try. If you missed your chance to get tickets, then you missed your chance to meet ME, The wheelchair Mommy.
Yup. Sorry you missed out.

Kidding. :) I’m really not that conceited. HAHAH.

There should be several more boot camp stops, so check them out.

If you are going, give me a shout out here or one Twitter and definitely on Saturday. I’ll be really easy to spot, because I’ll be the one in the wheelchair. Yup. That’ll be me.

Best Vacuum for wheelchair user

Hoover Linx Platinum cordless stick vacuum.

There.

That was a mouthful.

Anyways. I highly recommend it to ALL wheelchair users and people that feel they need to vacuum many times a day because of a cat, dog or kid. Or people that make their kid do the work for them.

Kidding.

It is priced a bit high for being so small though and the battery doesn’t last for my entire hard floor house, but it’s over 2000 Sq.Ft. so that would be unreasonable. I now have a second battery and life is really good.

This review is entirely my own. Hoover doesn’t know me from Adam and they certainly never sent me a thank you when I bought it at Wal-Mart. If it ever dies, I do plan to replace it. I won’t let my emotions for it get in the way of bringing it’s clone into my home.

Pflugerville TKD

I am ashamed that I have not featured our Tae Kwon Do Studio in Pflugerville Pfavorites, yet.

How did that even happen?

We’ve been going to Tae Kwon Do Plus in Pflugerville for almost 2 years now and we LOVE them. The people that own it and all the other instructors are just amazing.

If you want to find a fun, challenging activity for your child (4 years old and up) I HIGHLY recommend martial arts. ANY martial arts….but I am biased and think this one is the best.

William started out as a “Tiger Cub” and is now in the Jrs. class, working on an OFFICIAL black belt. Charlie started a year ago as well so it’s really fun that they are doing this together.

We recently took professional pictures and they turned out awesome!! I have a release to print/use them as I want so I will share some.

Thank you for the Pictures, Richard.

Putting a toddler in a car seat in van

I shared this with mobile women and wanted to add it here. If you have to sign in to see it let me know and I will host it somewhere else :)

This is how I put my toddler into his carseat from my wheelchair. I drive a van.

PTO Mommy Blogger Taxi

Yup.

That would be me. :)

Life has been really crazy since Will started Kindergarten. We have TaeKwonDo on Tuesday and Thursday and Swim on Monday and Wednesday. Starting in Novemeber we will only swim on Wednesday. That’ll help. Oh, yeah and Lucas has swim on Monday and I still do Story Time at THE BOOK BOX on Thursday at noon. PHEW. I’m tired writing all that out.

October has been a CRAZY month. The Elementary’s biggest PTO fundraiser of the year is at the end of October and I’ve been harrassing people to give us everything they can.

I mean kindly asking people to donate something, anything… that they can :) .

So, yeah. That’s where I’ve been.

(p.s. EXHAUSTED OR NOT … I’m loving every minute of it.)

Hopefully in November things will SLOW DOWN a LOT and I can get back to documenting our lives a little better. These times are really important. I know. I am genuinely doing this for my kids and want them to have something to look back on besides pictures.

William is doing GREAT in school. We met with his teacher (who I totally adore) and found out he’s very smart but tends to be silly and likes to make other kids laugh/react. Yup. That’s  my kid alright.

——–

Lucas is totally loving the Mommy time but very EAGER to pick up brother when it’s time.

——–

Hmm, what else?? Still thinking about a 3rd baby. Call me crazy :D if you want. :D

——

I think that’s it for now. I’ll post a Pflugerville Pfavorite for October soon… so be on the look out.

oooh. … we are finally getting hand controls put on the M3 … so everyone LOOK OUT!
